Thank you for posting this. My 22 year old son recently had a panic attack. He lives in a run down, crappy house at his college where they’ve been doing some work on it. I was concerned about toxicity so I had him go get a physical. The in-curious and pill pushing Dr. immediately prescribed him Lexapro. Literally in under 10 minutes. No questions about anything in his life. Fortunately our son is on the same page as us. We got him into with a different doctor and we’re going a completely different way.
There is a sentence in the "suicidality" section of the study that is just maddening in its attempt at downplaying the problems with this drug:
"A higher percentage of escitalopram-treated than placebo-treated patients had suicidal ideation, with the most common ideation in the least severe category (“wish to be dead”)."
Most of the kids had the "least severe" form of suicidality, where they just "wished to be dead?" Are we supposed to be relieved by that? Thats not really making this look any better, Abbvie
I’ve been on Lexapro and it barely helped my mood, but it made me suicidal. That wasn’t very fun. I was thankfully taken off it after I went to a different psychiatrist.
The diet of youth, I believe, plays a huge role in their mental health challenges. I wish our country would address processed foods impact of youth instead of just giving kids one more poison. I hope MAHA really takes off.
