Incredible podcast. You had me at biochemist turned sobriety advocate— which is how I’d describe myself too—so I had to tune in.
I was at the severe end of alcohol addiction, and nowadays I’m sober and fulfilled. For me, the real turning point—after all the hell I’d put myself through—was understanding addiction as a substitute behaviour — one that relieves the suffering caused by unmet needs. The remedy, I believe, lies in understanding and meeting those needs authentically.
Thank you for this podcast. I saw many parallels with my own understanding and learnt some great pieces of advice too. If you’re interested, I write about my experiences and insights right here on Substack. Thank you.
