Brilliant post, thank you. We see the effects of this in skyrocketing family estrangement as well as the decline in friendships. Toxic politics and cancelations also make many drawn back from others in fear and suspicion. No pill or therapy session can solve these issues, but pills and therapy make some people very rich. Time to call this boondoggle out for the scam it is. Well done.

If the therapy and purposeful life with deep connections have resolved many issues, do you really need to continue on low dose anti-depressants? Often meds are better at the beginning and can be tapered off as therapy progresses. How do you know there would still be depressive symptoms without the meds? Maybe there wouldn't be. And if so, CBT or some variant of that therapy could help, along with the good work you are already doing. If you are on meds long-term, they become the go-to approach used by MDs should there be any increase in symptoms, ignoring any issues which could be causing a relapse, and blinding you to them. .

But since there are complex issues, your way may be the best way to go. It is not either-or.
