Is "Mental Illness" A Collective Delusion?
The science of thought and emotion in shaping our existence
I confess to being a newcomer in my attempt to comprehend the intricacies of quantum physics. Frankly, it's challenging for me to grasp the vast possibilities and the potential it holds for health, healing, and creation. The sheer scope of it is truly mind-blowing.
The awareness of what we don't know humbles me, and this often fuels my frustration and resentment toward the current allopathic medical model. There's a sense of arrogance in the way we discuss disease and drugs that adds to these feelings.
Quantum physics instills a sense of wonder about the extraordinary power of the universe and our own divine nature.
While I may be new to quantum physics, the field of Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) is more easily understood and widely accepted. Let's use this as a starting point. PNI focuses on examining the interplay between psychological processes and the nervous and immune systems within the human body.
Existing data strongly supports the idea that the immune system can undergo significant changes due to psychosocial stressors or interventions, resulting in actual health outcomes. While the most robust evidence pertains to modifications in infectious disease and wound healing, the clinical importance of immunological dysregulation is evident in increased risks across various conditions and diseases. For instance, psychological stressors have the potential to bring about profound negative health consequences.
In simpler terms, how we react to our own thoughts and mind can trigger stress hormones and compromise our immune system. Essentially, we have the power to make ourselves sick.
Humans possess the ability, within our own minds, to revisit painful events from our past. We can experience suffering in the present not because something distressing or stressful is actually happening, but due to our capacity to mentally return to those past experiences. Our bodies are unable to distinguish the difference.
Similarly, the same applies to worry and envisioning worst-case scenarios about the future. We have the capability to mentally create distressing events about the future, leading to anxiety about their potential occurrence. Again, the body does not discern the difference.
We are all creators.
The influence of the mind on our health is widely acknowledged in mainstream medicine, yet it is not always utilized for promoting health, well-being, transformative change, and abundance.
If our thoughts and emotions can make us sick...
They can also make us healthy.
We Are All Energy
Now, I'll invite you to keep an open mind.
Every element in the physical universe consists of subatomic particles such as electrons. An atom, in fact, is comprised of 99.99999% energy and just a tiny 0.00001% matter. Proportionally, this is almost negligible.
These particles exist in a wave state (with energy representing 99.99999% of it) when not observed.
In essence, we are all energy. It's essential to keep this in mind.
Indeed, a thought is energy, and an emotion is a manifestation of energy in motion. Together, they can prompt actions, creating a cascade of new and varied experiences. The possibilities are truly infinite.
Quantum Mechanics states that the Universe is made up of space filled with fields of vibration, interconnected, unified and in constant communication, where distance and time are of no consequence; where one end of the Universe moves connected and in relationship to the other end and everything in between is a grand movement or dance held in space. In truth then, our lives and indeed everything in the entire universe are not only all connected, but absolutely so, with no separation.
Quantum physics reveals that there is no distinction between energy and matter. In the human body, all systems, from the atomic to the molecular level, are in constant motion, generating resonance. Understanding this resonance is crucial in grasping how subtle energy guides and sustains health and wellness in the human being.
Everything in the universe is made up of energy vibrating at different frequencies. At the quantum level, even things that appear solid are made up of vibrational energy fields.
In the human brain, alpha waves span the frequency range of 7.5–12.5 Hz. Alpha waves are present during deep relaxation, dreaming, and light meditation. It could be said that alpha waves are a gateway to deeper states of consciousness. They have been shown to promote mental coordination, calmness, alertness, inner awareness, mind–body integration, and learning.
Schumann resonances (SR) are a set of spectrum peaks in the extremely low frequency portion of the Earth’s electromagnetic field. They are global electromagnetic resonances. The energy of the Earth vibrates at a 528-Hz frequency. This frequency is thought by some to be so powerful that it can help repair DNA damage and restore harmony and equilibrium. Alpha waves closely resemble the fundamental SR frequency.
The vibrational responsiveness of living cells suggests a whole new medical paradigm in which electrical waves, both natural and man-made, exert effects that can be either healing or harmful to the body’s cellular oscillatory balance.
Ancient scholars came to understand that everything is composed of the same energetic substance that vibrates at different frequencies. Traditional Chinese medicine, for example, is based primarily on the understanding of the transformation of universal Qi throughout the human body.
If our thoughts and emotions are forms of energy, and we vibrate at different frequencies, the question arises: can these energies influence people around us? I started contemplating whether my beliefs and the emotions I generate could be sensed by my patients and if they might impact their reality.
Could we potentially learn to facilitate healing through the manipulation of energy?
Observer Effect
Quantum physicists discovered that a person observing the particles of an atom actually affects the behavior of this energy and matter. Quantum experiments proved that electrons exist as infinite possibilities or probabilities in an invisible field of energy.
With this discovery, mind and matter can no longer be considered separate. They are intrinsically linked. Because the subjective mind produces perceptible changes in the objective physical world. Here we’re referring to a quantum mind.
If our quantum mind has the capacity to influence the appearance of an electron, in theory it should be able to influence the appearance of any possibility as well.
We are literally creators of our reality. In fact, we also influence those around us. This brings scientific understanding to the idea of a collective consciousness.
If by changing our state of being (and by this we mean changing our beliefs and consequently changing our thoughts, emotions and behaviors) we create a new electromagnetic field which would match with this potential in the quantum field of information, is it possible we will stumble upon this situation by being attracted to it or that the situation will find us?
Are We Collectively Creating the IDEA of Illness?
If we find ourselves living in a state of anxiety and fear we can undoubtedly observe an internal reality that is predicting harm, judgement, rejection, failure, loss or some other fear based outcome. Not only is this impacting our behavior it is impacting us at the cellular level. Are we thus creating a reality where this will ultimately occur.
Our minds are very self limiting and thus we can only create what we allow ourselves to fully believe. Human evolution exists at a cultural level beyond genetic evolution. Once we can witness and experience an airplane it now exists in our consciousness. Same with any technological advancement. However, all these advancements had to be internally believed as a possibility by someone who has not yet experienced it in order to create it.
Think about our health and mental health. What are the implications of creating the idea of mental illness? It is literally a belief system that is now experienced in a collective consciousness. Although quantum physicists would indicate we have not even begun to understand our infinite potential, the creation of psychiatric disorders has infinite consequences on how we interpret everything from a sensation, a thought, an emotion, a behavior or even our own attention. We can create the idea of sickness. What happens when this occurs?
This is why there exists a collective perception, arguably a delusion, of conditions like ADHD. When we propose that the intricate facets of human attention and concentration can be simplified and categorized as a disease, individuals may interpret their own internal focus as disordered. While there's no concrete way for a person to truly discern this, the idea has been formulated and has taken root, now existing as a perceived reality.
In the modern mental health industrial complex your human experience is being perceived through the lens that something is wrong with you. Your divine self and the complexity of experiences, emotions or thoughts is somehow disordered. It may be framed as a “mental illness”. Based on quantum mechanics this idea can be collectively created between you and the practitioner/therapist sitting across from you.
A reality can be framed with infinite consequences.
This is the danger of biological reductionism, allopathic medicine or any other collective idea that limits are innate capabilities.
We become sick.
In mind, body and spirit.
Creating Health
In the simplest terms, when we recognize that thoughts and emotions are energy in action, we can use this to be more intentional in creating what we want. The creative power of your mind can work for you or against you. Your thoughts about your abundance and potential as well as your own thoughts of lack and deficiencies emit energy resulting in what you energetically create.
Perception influences emotion and action thus making perception key to what we experience in life. How we perceive something has more to do with our history than with what is happening in the present moment. We can habitually respond in ways that are not consciously understood.
As we encounter new situations, we automatically compare them with what we believe to be familiar or similar from the past. This is an instinctual part of what allows us to respond or react as quickly as possible for safety, survival and functionality. If we are not present to this process, we will tend to habitually see the present through the lens of the past and often limit our ability to create the changes we want. Being present also allows us to choose how we want to perceive current circumstances given the present-day facts and our skill level.
From the placebo effect to the powers of prayer there exists a powerful force within us to change matter based on what we think and feel. We literally exert an energy that could move mountains.
Matthew 17:20 says, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
A Personal Story
Lately, I've been exploring different ways to cultivate energy with my clients. In certain instances, though not universally, I make an intentional effort to foster an energy of love, compassion, and positive intention. This may include privately stating a heartfelt prayer or bestowing blessings upon them, both before their arrival and silently during our sessions. My clients are not aware I am attempting to cultivate this energy toward them.
However, being human, I have not been able to consistently maintain this state of being. There are moments when busyness, fatigue, or emotional residue from previous events can cause me to overlook or temporarily deviate from cultivating such a positive energy.
What I've discovered is that my energy significantly influences the emotions and overall experience of the person in front of me. It seems to exhibit, at the very least, an interaction effect. Regardless of how I outwardly present myself to my clients, the internal state and energy I project appears to have some influence on the person in front of me.
We likely do emit a “vibe” that others can experience.
While I acknowledge that this falls short of rigorous scientific analysis, there is already a wealth of existing evidence supporting these concepts. Through my observations, I have witnessed individuals transition from a state of emotional dysregulation and internal chaos to a more regulated and peaceful existence. These transformations coincide with my intentional efforts to cultivate compassion and loving energy towards them.
In a similar vein, the manner in which I conceptualize and convey a client's emotional challenges to them holds significant sway over their interpretation of their experiences and consequently influences their emotions and lifestyle.
To illustrate, when I present their anxiety and depression not as mere symptoms of a "mental illness," but rather as guiding forces propelling them toward transformative change on the journey of life, their personal reality takes on a fundamentally different shape.
When we perceive that everything unfolds for us rather than happening to us, it fundamentally transforms our existence for the better.
This would make sense. Consider what we are creating.
Consider being cautious about sharing your history and experiences with just anyone. The way others perceive and frame your reality has the potential to shape your own perspective.
Why psychiatry is so dangerous.
An Evolving Science
Ultimately, the forthcoming phase in our evolution necessitates mastering and nurturing this wisdom to enhance the well-being of humanity. Numerous peer-reviewed studies substantiate the profound interconnection between the mind and body, revealing the transformative effects of acquiring techniques that tap into a potent energy interacting with the quantum field.
To conclude, I urge my readers to explore the insights offered by the HeartMath Institute. (click here) and a quick video on some heart math science.
We stand at the brink of a profound expansion in human consciousness that has the potential to transcend our current understanding of human capabilities and, consequently, redefine the paradigm of health.
Hi Roger I really enjoy reading your writing. If you are interested, check out Ren Xue and Yuan Qigong. This system is underpinned by the three theories of Qi, Consciousness and totality and explains how it all works together. I’ve been a practicing MD and also a counsellor and understand miracle healing and life elevation (and also the serious harms of the psychiatric system). The Ren Xue system is the most comprehensive and complete system that I think is out there right now.
Hi Roger after reading this article I think you might enjoy reading a book by Joe Griffin and Ivan Tyrrell titled Godhead it covers some of the things you talk about here. They have also written another book called Human Givens that fits with a lot of your thoughts on therapy and human nature. Finally I have listened to all of your podcasts and have enjoyed all of them.
