I have been struggling emotionally all week. I realized it does have to do with the recent events and the images I'm seeing. It does foment dread and despair...
What a timely essay. I haven't felt this bombarded with bad news since the beginning of Covid. I noticed those same feelings of high alert and anticipation of doom gloom starting to sneak in and poison otherwise totally fine days. This was an excellent reminder on what is at stake. I heard a fellow substacker, Paul Kingsnorth say it this way: put the peace of your heart before everything else.
Finally, a few are speaking out against the catastrophic long-term effects of pornography. It should not even be legal. Almost every show mentions it as though it is a normal part of life, and it isn't. Sometimes I receive a sub stack email and sign on to read articles. I found myself going down rabbit holes on a men's group blaming feminism for all the problems young boys are experiencing today. Some anti-feminism videos were posted, it is just the flip side of the same coin. I was taken aback by the men's comments, anonymous of course toward women that were laden with violence, hate and a desire to disempower women in general. Yet, there was never any focus on how relationships with women are ravaged by pornography, and the traffic is huge, with the greater viewership being male. Talk about not addressing the elephant in the room. If I watch too many real-life crimes shows, they have a morbid effect on my psyche. I don't want to live in a bubble, so the odd dip in to maintain awareness of the dark side of the world is practical. The pornographic industry like the vaccine industry is such a cash cow that the notion of implementing reform seems daunting. Yet, we owe it to our young to create a physically and psychologically 'clean' environment. I did come across a YouTube show highlighting the perils of porn and encouraging escape from them. This kind of awareness needs to go mainstream; I am certain it will reduce young men's animosity and frustration toward women. Almost every sub stack I subscribe to, I find anonymous commentators hurling sarcastic insults at the commentators with differing viewpoints. Censorship is a slippery slope, so I don't know the solution, but what an eye-opener to become aware of the hate in so many in our communities.

Well said. Very profound. Thank you. God Bless us all. 🙏😢❤️🇺🇸
